Do you want to explore Ljubljana in a fun and active way, rarely experienced by an average tourist? Then join our SUP Ljubljana tour!
River Ljubljanica flows right through the center of the Slovenian capital. This means you can explore the heart of Ljubljana on a SUP and experience it from a different perspective. Instead of waiting in lines, you’ll be the one turning heads on the river bank and getting some great photos out of it!
The water is calm and without rapids, excellent for a few hours of relaxed stand-up paddling, both through its urban part and greener outskirts.
After a quick introduction to the techniques (if you are new to the activity), our SUP Ljubljana tour will take you below the magnificent bridges of the Old town, past highlights such as the Ljubljana Castle, the Triple Bridge, and more. Your guide will tell you all about them and share some stories about the local life.
As a former Green Capital of Europe, Ljubljana also has plenty of peaceful nature, which we will explore in the latter part of our tour. You might even see some Nutrias!
Our tours are led by ASI-certified instructors, who could show you some SUP tips and tricks while keeping up the relaxed vibe by introducing some fun games. Are you confident in your balance?
And don’t worry, you don’t even have to bring a waterproof camera — your guide will take care of that, capturing the best moments on their GoPro!

Things to know
After meeting you, the SUP instructor will store your belongings that you don’t want on the tour in our van parked in a safe area just next to the paddling spot.
Wear comfortable clothes, like a T-shirt, shorts or a swimsuit. We recommend that you wear flip-flops or other shoes that can be worn on the paddleboard. In spring and autumn, it can get a little chilly, so we recommend wearing something warm like a hoodie, or we can lend you a short wetsuit free of charge (just tell us the size you need beforehand).
Not much, sunscreen and a bottle of water will do.
We want to ensure that your paddle-boarding tour is safe, so we’ll go out in all types of weather except heavy rain, strong river current, or wind. If the weather is bad enough that we have to reschedule your tour for another day or time, we will give you a full refund.
Anyone who can swim is welcome to join our stand-up paddleboarding tour, even without any prior experience with SUP. If you feel unsure, we can provide you with a life jacket — just tell us before the tour.
Stand-up paddleboarding is considered an easy sport, as people of all ages and fitness levels can have a go at it.
Although the river is not designated as a swimming area (because of the strict regulations), it is possible to swim in it. Some people do, while others prefer not to. If you are in the latter group, you don’t have to worry, you won’t have to, as it’s quite hard to fall from a SUP on calm waters.
